Headshot/Portrait Photographer in Ashville, NC

About

In 1986, I was given my first camera, a Contax SLR. It was a life-changing gift, allowing me to have a career in the arts. I pursued photography both as a commercial photographer and a fine artist.

After spending much of my photography career as a photojournalist and wedding photographer, I have turned to portraiture. I welcome the move from being a quiet observer assigned to telling a story from a distance to active listener telling a story in close range.

Working primarily with natural light, I enjoy the opportunity that portraiture allows for getting to know my clients. It is my goal to find the balance between the formal portrait and the ease of a candid moment.

Whether for a family gift or a professional headshot, my clients can count on a friendly, professional experience.

Ms. Baker is also an abstract painter. To learn more about her work, please click here or visit the Painting section of this site.”

“Michelle can make even the most photo-phobic person (like me) feel comfortable. I felt like she was inthe experience with me, cheerleading, making me laugh, directing me up close and on the spot, so I could be as spontaneous as possible. I have never had this much fun in a photo shoot. (Ever!) And the results far exceeded my expectations – I can actually say I LOVE the photos she took of me. (Which also rarely happens.) Michelle is an artist in her own right, and so her “eye” is spot on. She has the gift, and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. ”

Thanks for the great headshots. I’m really pleased with how they came out and have others tell me that they thought they captured the real “me.” You also made the photoshoot experience a fun one, much to my pleasant surprise.
